Objectives
- Devote knowledge, skills, and energy to the treatment of sick and injured pets
- Serve as a primary source of information for pet owners and care providers in the community
- Continue to learn the latest veterinary treatments and procedures
- Teach, coach and mentor others in the profession with a welcoming compassionate attitude
- Support the practices other veterinarians with their diagnoses and surgical procedures
Responsibilities
- Perform regular and preventive health examinations of pets
- Assess pets to determine the nature of their disease or injury
- Implement and coordinate treatment plans for pets, and provide detailed explanations for their owners
- Perform surgical procedures when necessary
- Manage emergency medical situations by stabilizing a pet’s condition and determining whether a referral is necessary
- Communicate treatment plans effectively to staff and clients
- Train interns and new employees in how to perform effectively in the clinic environment
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited School
- California State Veterinary Board License and must be in good standing prior to their start date
- Eligible to obtain a DEA license
- Maintain current Continuing Education requirements for the state of California
- Committed to ongoing personal growth and education and assisting in leading the development of others
- A New Graduate or Experienced veterinarian ready to provide compassionate care
- Committed to building a trusting relationship with clients, colleagues and paraprofessionals
- Strong ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to multitask and perform diligently in a fast paced environment
